I understand how people would think I am one of those people who is always where the action is, but that’s not true. Most of the big events I go to are out of luck. SXSW for example, I was asked if I wanted to go to Austin to listen to live music all day and I said yes not know that it was SXSW or even what SXSW was. I am not very in the loop about that kind of stuff. I get all my news from hearsay.
That is not to say I don’t like big events. I actually love big local events where a bunch of cool people walk around the city, eat food and listen to live music. I was never the type of person to sneak out to a concert in the middle of the night, so when I do go to some event, it’s a big deal. Anyway, I went to SXSW on a whim and had a great time taking lots of pictures and listening to awesome bands.
This was at St. Vincent De Paul on South Congress. Playing is the one-man-band, Lincoln Durham. Really good music. Earlier he was using a suitcase as a drum!
Now setting up is a folksy band called Buxton.

Dan Dyer was across the street at Guero’s Taco Bar.
This guy was dancing with his dog earlier in front of The Continental Club.
Written on the side of Jo’s Coffee.
Then we headed over to South by San Jose and listened to Jonathan Wilson.

When we got to the Auditorium Shores Stage, Shiny Toy Guns was playing, and they were amazing!

Then The Cult came on after some Austin band and Matthew McConaughey got to play the congas. I was kind of far away to actually see the stage, but I had a lot of stuff (food) by that point so I couldn’t really squeeze through the crowd. I could see on the screen and hear everything fine anyway.
